Re: Very Interesting Arch transition Design

Thanks Rick. I didn't realise until now that it was in fact your oven on the website, and you were the 'Dutch dude' to whom I referred in another post recently. Sorry - I'll give you a name and appropriate recognition next time.

The pictures are pretty self-explanatory, so thanks for taking the trouble to record your transition design. I hope to do something similar on my oven - next ring now.

And although I don't speak Dutch, I did appreciate your witty comment about the complexity of the transition, compared with Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona!

    Cheers, Paul.

    Hi guys,

Just got back from a long holiday and saw your posts about my arch transition design.

I've been desperately looking for a 100% website translator without any flaws. The best I could find so far (that translates dutch into english) is

    AltaVista - Babel Fish Translation

Problem is that the pictures on the website are not loaded except for the homepage, but anyway the text is translated. The translated text is not really that good (my 8 year old daughter does a better job) so if you have any questions about the design just shoot.

Maybe some day in the future I will translate the text in English.

    Rick

It's an old link - it's evidently timed out. (Those things aren't permanent, as I understand it).

Darn it the translated page comes up with the ask header but does not load. Any thoughts?

Let me rephrase the page comes up blank with the ask header and does not load the translation

Also discussed in June (with an English translation) at http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/c...dome-1867.html. Balty Knowles' oven also has an interesting transition which uses longer dome bricks, rather than longer arch bricks.

Start here and go forward (volgende >) on the navigation arrows on the bottom this and the next page show it. Anyone know how to translate this page?

Clever arch arangement, not hard to do. Clearly a bread baker, hence the big slab of concrete under the brick floor, what we used to call the "island hearth". I didn't see the page where (s)he deals with the vent and chimney, maybe hasn't gotten that far.
