Mortar between Brick & Firebrick

My oven is almost complete and now I am moving on to the decorative part of the oven. On the outside of the firebrick oven, I am going to lay housebrick around it match my home. Do I need special mortar to go between the housebrick walls and the firebrick walls or can standard bricking mortar work?

If you are talking about the general enclosure, then yes std mortar is fine as you will have insulation (perlite, ceramic blanket, ect) in between.
