Hey All,
I am planning out my 42" Pompeii foundation (along with other kitchen islands) and would love to get your opinion. I've been thinking about 3 approaches:
1. Dig out 12" and put in 12" class 5 (lift 4 inches at a time, then pack), reinforcing mesh, 5.5" Concrete
2. Dig out 12" and put in 12" class 5 (lift 4 inches at a time, then pack), reinforcing mesh, 5.5" Concrete and 12 inch sonotube footings at four corners 48" deep
3. Dig out 14" and put in 12" class 5 (lift 4 inches at a time, then pack) and 2" Dow Corning Rigid Insulation
thoughts? I'll be adjoining a paver patio that will have 11" of class 5 and 1" of sand.
thanks,
Yeager
