    Hi all,

Quick update on this one. I mixed another bucket of the Tarmac render and went over the top where the cracks were, Left it to dry for two days then painted with two coats of Sandtex. Several fires later all good, no cracks. Think it must have just dried too quickly in the hot weather of the first coat.

That's what I am thinking now, thanks.

Might mix up a small batch tomorrow just to go over the problem areas then paint in a few days. Think the affected areas were where I went a little thin too.

    Thanks for the reply.

I assume the cracks are small plastic shrinkage cracks from the drying of the render. I would not be concerned ,overcoat the render with a good waterproofing compound and paint

started a topic Cracked render on the dome.

    Cracked render on the dome.

    Hi all,

Took a DIY route and decided to try and render the block-walled base and dome with Tarmac one cost render. The block work base was fine and looks ok but the dome.....I did it today with wetting the vermiculate underneath and although it went on fine, I have checked it tonight and it has cracked in a couple of places. Seems firm though so wondering what to do about it. Was going to paint it anyway but I am wondering if it all needs to come off, whether to just try and skim over the cracked first layer or what??

If anyone has any thoughts I would be interested to hear them please.

    Many thanks

    Andy
