After lurking in the background reading this forum for a while I have finally started working on my oven. The stand is done but on laying the CFB, I discovered that the surface is not even (could have done a better job smoothing out the concrete!) I am thinking of using sand under the CFB, but worried it might give problems once the dome goes up. Or should I level it off with a layer of mortar?

Have you read or purchased the Forno Bravo eplans? It is a good baseline for building ovens and only 3 bucks. In these plans, it shows you can level CaSi board with a 50/50 mix of sand and fire clay peanut butter slurry consistency.Russell
