  • Deja Vu - All Over Again

Well, as Yogi Berra would say, I'm at it again. I have just finished curing my oven for the Second Time.
After I got back from Spring Work, I wanted to get rid of the tarp over the oven and stucco it. I had the crack going up from the arch way to the top and wanted to fix that, also George's draw on his vent (see his video) embarassed me.
Knowing I owed James some business, I ordered a bag of refmix and some flour. Using the Refmix to fix the crack and redo the vent and arch, I came to the conclusion that this is a lot better than the HeatStop I used. Maybe that is because I got 4 of their last 5 bags. If shipping cost wasn't so bad I would whole hearted recommend it!
During the curing process I've done brisket and ribs!!! We're doing a beer butt chicken right now. I'll need to look at Dave's videos again for the pizza. I still seem to maxed out at aroung 12".

    Great to have you back!

How did your brisket and ribs turn out.
I've been meaning to cook some ribs, but for the price... I just keep doing brisket...

    Let me know!

    Thanks

    Dave

RC, what's your refmix:flour ratio to fill those cracks?

        Hey Lake, you're back!!

How's the lake looking now then, any chance of a pic? (You can put your oven repair in the foreground if you like...)

Speaking about price, just wait. With the flooding in the midwest and corn prices exploding, meat is going to go up as well. We did a beer butt chicken last night (oven at 375 for 90 minutes) and boy it was good. Much better than on the grill.
Oven is still at 300 so I just put a rack of ribs in ($5), four hours from now the meat will be falling off the bone.
Dave I need to watch your videos again, I'm going to make larger pizzas this weekend.
Next week with the 4th of July sales will be the time to stock up on brisket and ribs!

Whatever ratio, just chase it done with a cold one or seven

Spring work took a month and then a little traveling and finally got around to projects I had postpone will I was building the oven. I got around to doing the upstairs and bathroom and an built in entertainment center for our family room. This site ( and subject) is so addicting, I had to go cold turkey for a bit.

I wanted some advice on stucco so came back and am completely impressed with the quantity and quality of the forum these days.

The lake's full and I'll get some pictures for you Frances! We've had an extremely windy period for the last three months, so we've only been out on the jet skis or boat a little over a dozen times.
