I like to build a “flattened arch” like the attached pic. It seems to be popular in Eastern Europe and Russia. I’ve seen it on a couple of builds on this forum. It allows the corresponding brick course to lay right on top of it as it is in line with the bed joint. Seems far more difficult than the conventional segmented arch.
