  • Removal of dome form work?

Hi. I completed my dome for my WFO on the weekend (I used a polystyrene from). How long should I wait before I remove the form??

    Cheers

      Hi John.

I pulled the from work out at lunch time and it didn't fall down (yet).

Its starting to look good. Purchased stainless steel flu at lunch time. Oven entry arch looks good and will do the exterior arch once I have cleaned up a bit inside.

Cant wait to start the curing phase.

      Cheers

Re: Removal of dome form work?

        Hi Jase,
when I built my dome (and laid the hearth bricks) in 2 days I removed the bricks supporting the top dome courses immediately and then stood on top of it, yep 85kg on wet mortar/bricks.
I did this also to enable me to clean the inside brick faces of surplus mortar when they were bedded onto the sand form.
If it is ever going to collapse, then it was that moment.
All domes if designed and built correctly are self supporting and should stay in place even without mortar or adhesive.
