Re: HF wetsaw wobbles fat cuts

Thanks everyone. I looked hard at my water from the 2 nozzles and I think they were getting clogged. My fresh water bucket I had hung from the rear was getting brick dust sprayed into it and the it appears it need cleaning and the water runs freer now. The saw blade does not skip and bump like it was doing nearly as much. It's wierd, I really did not do anything other than clear the water, tighten everything and it made a big difference. The blade still doesn't spin perfectly but I never looked at it before this closely. Anyway, I'm happy, got another course up and cut a few more bricks for tomorrows row. thanks, dino

I had wobble issues when cutting hard stuff, and extra water from the hose solved the problem. Why might it be worse than it was? I think the HF saw doesn't have world class bearings on that arbor.

On my HF saw, there is a brass insert spacer that fits in the middle of
the blade. You might have it missing and its causing the blade to be off center.

If your blade is not running smooth and true, you have some safety issues. I would not use that set up at risk of serious injury. You should get that sorted before continuing.
Have you really gone thru three blades on this project? I spent $135 on the blade I used to cut 200+ bricks and it cut the last brick just as well as the first! Not sure of the brand but will check if you’d like. Hope you have a save and productive WFO weekend.
    Cheers,

Is there a gap between the blade and the arbor? Maybe they got a run of oversized holes in the blade?

    HF wetsaw wobbles fat cuts

I replaced my HF diamond blade for the 3rd time with the OSH "Norton" $44 since it's been working great. But the newest blade (I thought) was out of round and took it back. The new one is the same. The blade doesn't cut like butter any more. It makes a wide, chunky 3/16" or more, irregular cut half way thru a brick then cuts straight and smooth and then usually grabs a "chip" on the finish of the cut.
I'm using 5/8" center hole diamond blades, I had the washer that came with the HF saw behind the blade, than outside the blade (next to the nut that holds it in-I believe that is the proper way) and same thing. My water is running and spaying fine. But when you look at the spinning blade head on, it seems to "dance" up and down a bit.

I'm hoping I can finish my last few rings in this condition. It would be nice to be able to make my best cuts for the closing the dome. Any thoughts?
    Thanks, Dino
