That's what I did. You want a reveal on the inside arch to fit a door against. If the outer arch is not slightly larger, the door will fit to tightly before you can fit it up against the inner arch.

Yes, each of my arches was about 1 inch wider.

This helps you have two doors one door for the inner arch and one for the outer arch to keep out the elements.
