  • Handy book goes back to basics...

... and goes back to the 1970s for me, when I bought William Abler's SHOP TACTICS upon recommendation by the Whole Earth Catalog/Epilog.

Initially produced under the title 'The sensuous gadgeteer', it is described as "The Common-sense Way of using Tools and Working with Woods, Metals, Plastics and Glass".

If you can dig up a copy under either title somewhere, it's a brilliant addition to your workshop library - you'll refer to it all the time as you invent, experiment, make or fix things!

It was published by Running Press, Philadelphia, in 1973 and 1976. ISBN 0-914294-64-4 (paperback)

    Cheers,

Carioca (who's STILL waiting for his load of firebricks to appear in Charlotte Bay, Australia...)
