Alexi,

Your assumption is correct, if you are doing a high dome the radius of the oven is the height of the dome. You will want a little adjustment in the tool though; the dome won't be totally perfect and it is nice to be able to back the tool off to get it out of a tight spot without knocking your newly set bricks. I used all thread with a turn buckle for mine and it worked nicely.
