Re: Chimney height?
The height of the chmney is a function of several things. The general rule of thumb around where I live is 24" taller than any other surface within 12'. So, if you are just doing a dome, the top of the chimney should be 24" higher than the top of your finished dome. If you are making an enclosure and roof, etc., then 24" higher than your finished roof. Don't forget to get a 'hat' to keep critters and rain out.

Re: Chimney height?
Gudday all
My chimney only just clears the height of my oven it low and wide to suit local conditions. Im located just of the sea and have sea breezes in the evening. being located in the lee of a hill the winds tend the swirl a bit and change direction and intensity. A neighbours wood BBQ has a tall chimney and what can happen is the wind can come down the chimney and blow sparks and smoke all over you. His house is now been renovated and the BBQ is more protected. The ovens surrounded by taller bushs which protects as well and the largness of the opening means the smoke always goes up the chimney not out the front...plus I do like the smell of burning wood
