  • Roof - Stuck on how i should do mine .....

    Hi Guys,

Its been a while, life got a little to hectic .. but i'm back to resume my build. I've sourced some free terracotta roof tiles (not sure if i should use them seeing how heavy they are)

    My questions
    1) How did you determine the incline angle of the roof? If your using terracotta tiles what are the angle limits?
    2) Anyone have detailed pictures of their roof builds. I'll be searching but if you find any well details builds could you let me know.

    Thanks in advance again~~

Typical modern tile roofs are 22 degrees, terracotta Federation style roof are 30 degrees.

Modern tile timber batten spacings are around 340mm, you will have to measure your tile to determine yours.

My oven is going very well and thanks for the kind words, the angle of my roof is.....hurrying outside to measure......is 45 degrees, it just came to be that for some reason, not measured nor planed.

Roof angle is measured from the horizontal, not the ridge as some mistakenly do.

            Use 45 degrees

you will be surprised by the advantages of doing this.

everything comes out at 90 degrees or half of that.

all other angles have a complement that has a tail and horns!

            Regards

I ended up with a 6/12 pitch. That way, I could have enough overhang at the eaves while keeping my eave-to-ridge distance at 4 feet (a single sheet of plywood). I'm planning to finish with metal roofing, so snow buildup won't be an issue.
