protective coat for entry bricks

Should I be covering the bricks around the entry (esp outer arch) with some sort
protective coating? I've seen a few photos of other builds where the bricks look shiny as if they have some sort of lacquer on them.

Bondall have a product that will proof the entrance brickwork. No its not shinny but drys clear it does darken the brick an a very small amount. It does wear out over time I have reproved mine twice now. Just brush it on and let it . Yes I recon most hardware would have it bunnings does
