Made from 3 mm aluminum so it will not damage the hearth brick, but strong enough to push a log around. Sorry it ain't pretty but it works. One thing I discovered about making tools is the handles start off to long and all of mine have been shortened a couple ins at a time till they feel right

    Regards dave

I bought a pooper scooper from Petco. Replaced the handle with a longer piece of EMT pipe - works greet.

FB has sold an ash rake which is a variant of both.

I use this. I bent it a tad beyond vertical so I can rake against the back wall.

Anyone using an ash hook in their oven like this one?

I've been using an old 2x4 to move the coals around, and truth be told - it works just fine. But I have been reading the "Art of Wood Fired Cooking" and it talks about an ash hook to move coals, and I got curious.

I thought I might weld something up for use in my oven - but thought there may be designs here on the forum that I could use as a starter.

    Anyone build/use such a tool?
