    Never place anything smaller than the block cavity hole on the edge of an unfilled cavity unless you have someone handy who has really long and skinny arms who can reach down and retrieve it.

    Good bye, trusty tape measure. You have served me well.

    Unless it was a fat-max..then you should knock a hole through the cell and get it.

      That just means that you are not drinking enough beer. Those cells should be full of empties.

        Tape measures are the best tool ever invented to fish out tape measures.That's why they put that thing that looks like a belt clip on them.Now if they would just put a GPS location device on them.

          Get yourself a good rare earth magnet on a long pole or cord and retrieve it.
          I do this all the time, in fact some automotive spare parts outlets sell them on telescopic wands.
          You will need to attach it to the metal end tang but a good magnet should attract the metal tape through a plastic body.
          Prevention is better than cure, - do it right the first time!
