I'm building a barrel style oven with the firebrick set on end i.e. 4.5" thick all around. I'm insulating with Kast-O-lite. Do I need a layer of concrete on the firebrick before the insulated refractory, or can I just apply the Kast-O-Lite on the firebrick? If so, does it require reinforcing mesh?
