  • Homemade pizza peel

    Hi,

I searched but i didn't find a topic related on construction of peels, either wood or aluminium.
If someone made a peel,he can share here the method of construction, plans, etc.

    Regards,
    George

George, I made my peels. I never took the time to document the process. I used .062 aluminum because it is really easy to cut with a jig saw. Post #192 shows a pic of the ones I use to slide the pizza into the oven. I built another with EMT pipe for the handle to remove them.

I think stainless is a better material than aluminium as it is more durable and less conductive. I've found the ideal thickness is 1.2 mm Regari g wooden peels solid timber is better than laminated which sometimes fail at the joins.

David - it is a better material but it is a pain in the ass to cut at home. I've used my peels for 5 plus years w/ no problems. Aluminum is also way more obtainable for less dollars. JMO...

            Yes Les,
that is true. I got mine laser cut and drilled, so I didn't do any of the work. These machines are becoming more common, your local school may have one.

              Maybe 13" or more?

I went to a sheet metal fabricator and picked up my stainless steel as much as unwanted for a $10 note from their scrap bin
