    I was surprised how runny he has his mortar and still bricks were not sliding.
    Any opinion if home brew mix can be used been this runny?
    And by the way oven shape is interesting too. as the front arch build in to it.

    That's because it's refractory mortar on dry firebrick. You don't want to do that with 'homebrew'...too much water will make the mortar weak and crumbly when it dries.

    That shape is called a Quebec oven.

      I was messing with some scrap bricks and it easier for me to use runny mortar, I guess no experience....so what consistency is to runny for "homebrew"?
      No comment about this clip but on on mark 0:53 he shows consistency.
      Does it look OK for "homebrew" to use on dry bricks? Or needs bit less water?

        Yeah, like that..maybe a tad drier if you're soaking or wetting your brick. Like peanut butter.
