  • Soapstone Fire Wand Firestarter

Has anyone used this to help get their fire going more quickly in a WFO? It is kept with the soapstone ball in lamp oil and when ready to use rolled in old ash from the last burn. The ash soaks up the remaining lamp oil and operates as a torch once lit. Lamp oil is odorless and smokeless.

I haven't used this product but, I am a little familiar with the theory behind it. Although I love a wood fire, sometimes wood can be a little hard to find near campsites and some river banks for all night fishing. A half dozen adobe brick soaked in coal oil (kerosene) will last all night lighting one at a time. Once soaked we put them in a five gallon bucket for the trip. I think that the product will work just fine for starting the fire in a WFO.
