  • Spaces in my oven floor

I did a really bad job of laying my oven floor. I got some of the fire clay and sand mix between my bricks and have several with spaces between them...

What can I do to smooth my oven floor out?

I would think that you could fill it with fire clay

If you are talking about vertical - you can use a belt sander. Buy the most abrasive and cheapest ones you can find. If you mean gaps between the floor bricks - no sweat. They will be filled with ash. All you need is a floor that won't catch your peel.

        Don't worry about it,
as Les said, they just fill up with ash.

        You won't even notice them.

I agree fill the spaces with ash, anything else will pop out as it does't expand and contract at the same rate as the fire brick.

i agree also..don't fill in spaces with anything but the ash....i had to grind a few edges to smooth out joints edges so the peel will slide smoothly
Can't wait for the next one!
