  • Superwool

Hi all, I've been looking at alternatives to kaowool due to the safety issues (call me paranoid) and saw this (thanks nissaneill for the link!). It sells for about AU$75 for a roll, which covers around 50 square feet, and the manufacturer says it has similar insulating properties to the kaowool as well as being much safer to handle and use. Just thought I'd put it out there as I haven't seen any discussion about it!

    Re: Superwool

GReat Website. Thanks for the info. As I am new to the world of hi-tec materials. How would one use these materials. Wrap the dome then chicken wire and stucco over it? What about the super wool board? is that to be used directly under the oven floor. The reason I ask is because I'm trying to rebuild an oven on a trailer and i'd love to get it right this time( my third). Thanks again

The blanket could be used for wrapping the dome, then wire and either stucco or an extra layer of insulating concrete. I am still wondering whether the board could be good as a base - not sure if it would be better than the standard vermiculite concrete.
