  • Flagstone Counter Top Care

    Hello outdoor friends,
Any tips for a flagstone counter top sealer? I am getting ready to install my counter tops and was wondering about a good clean glossy sealer that might be recommended?

    Thanks

    Rockwallgriller,
the flagstones that you mention are smooth or rough surfaced, porous or non porous, flat or rock shaped?
The sealers that we have over here (down under) vary significantly depending on surface characteristics. A smooth non porous surface is an east sealer to find, many slate/floor sealers are available from flooring, pool or tile suppliers.
Rock shaped and porous surfaces may need several coats or a thicker acrylic coating to seal them.
I would check with the supplier (if you obtained them from a supplier) for their recommendation, especially on a food preparation surface.

      Rock

We are a flagstone dealer in Pennsylvania and we find the best sealer for food prep on our Pa flagstone is the Prosoco SLX 100 PROSOCO, Inc.. This will not change the look of the stone but will protect against food stains. Their are other less expensive sealers for example Glaze n Seal natural look sealer http://www.glaze-n-seal.com/docs/fac...Pen%20FS14.pdf and Chargar Stone Seal Stone Seal Acrylic Satin Finish. They are both very good sealers but may be questionable around food prep.
