  • House bricks top oven

Hi all as I am sure you all, I have got my hearth slab made now. At last so now the fun can begin. I am sure a lot of you will cringe when i say what i am going to sugest but any way here I go. I have a heap of house bricks in my shed and I am wondering if they will be ok for the dome part, of the oven to save a few $$$. We do not plan on living here for more than a couple of years and the oven will only be used on the odd weekend.

    any ideas thanks guys.

    cheers

Australians have had success with something they call "pressed reds" which i think are like our pavers, in other words, no holes

Save your hollow house bricks for your enclosure.

You could always use a more temporary mortar, and then knock down the oven and take the bricks with you when you move.
