A. P. Green bulk fiber?

I have access to some A. P. Green bulk loose fiber, 50lbs worth. I believe it is ceramic based. Can anyone here comment on how far 50lbs would go and how it might be applied? I assume that since it is loose fill it cannot be applied to the hearth, only over the dome. Would I be correct in assuming that it must not be too heavily compressed? What could I do with it? Drape it somewhat randomly over the dome and then hold it in place with chickenwire? Would 50lbs cover a dome to any advantageous thickness?

I'm pretty clueless here. I tried to look up A. P. Green online and didn't find too much, and really didn't find any information on their bulk loose fiber.

Any help appreciated.

One would suspect that the insulative value of the fibers would be relative to the density they were compressed to (within reason). So if that assumption is correct, if one figured a 8 lb per cubic ft density (similar to the denser kaowool), the fifty pounds should give you a bit over six cubic feet of insulation. Depending upon the size of your dome and your enclosure that may or may not be enough material.
