  • Oven light

I looked at several ideas when building the oven for a built in light, but in the end construction outran planning and it was built with no integral light.

Here is what I devised, with the design criteria being:

    Not in the way.
Easily moved or replaced in case of damage or lack of utility.

I used my baby LED Mag light last weekend, but my jaw got tired quickly, so today I thinset a couple of strong magnets into the top of the outer arch. The batteries in the Mag light have enough iron for a good hold. Just turn it on, stick it, then twist it sideways to remove it.

      Re: Oven light

Someone a few years ago was discussing this issue. At the time, I thought there was no need - but there is! You have a fix - but is it possible to find a light that would withstand the dome temp? Maybe devise a glass lens and do a Solotube concept? Next oven.

The domestic downlights, either 12V or the ones available here 240V can withstand considerable heat, in fact they are responsible for many house fires. I integrated 2 of them in my chimney void aimed diagonally across the oven arched entrance and into the oven.
        They work great, see:
