      Photos Darren?

OK, I'm going to have to confess. Although well educated, there are certain aspects of the English language that continue to perplex me! Perhaps I'm setting myself up for total embarrassment.

The word "unpeeled" always throws me for a loop. Does this mean to take the peel off, like "undress", or does it mean to not peel it, like "unwashed"?

Looks like a great recipe, want to try it but lemons are hard to come by here in RP. I like the addition of the zest on top. It would add a nice finishing touch, maybe not too much zest. When I get some lemons I will try.....and post. I think the butter is an absolute must. What will the sugar have to melt into? Now I'm going to find some lemons

That easy ....don't use lemons use limes. Lemons are easy to come by here in australia .... but the limes are worth a fortune.

You know, it surprised me also when I first got here, but good citrus like oranges, lemons and limes are all imported and not readily available. But it's getting better. I found some lemons today and will try the recipe soon. Limes sound good also. Thanks

Sorry I was under the misconception that limes were more common than lemons in South East Asia. Many moons ago as a young sailor limes were the only local citris avaliable in most countries.
But it does bring up the interesting point would this pizza work with limes? ....now I will try and find out...as soon as the limes come in season

Re: Pizza Gypsy Lemon Drop Pizza

We are in the province and even things like mozzarella cheese is hard to come by. We just got a new big mall and things are getting better. But I still get all my pizza materials from Manila. Have lemon and limes planted in the farm so in 3 or 4 years i should be good...

Re: Pizza Gypsy Lemon Drop Pizza

@lwood where in the Philippines are you? While I can find lemons, it's limes that drive me crazy. Made a key lime pie that failed spectacularly, because I had used Dalandan (native orange, typically with a green peel and pale orange fruit) instead of limes! Should have noticed the shape was what I traditionally associate with grapefruit and oranges, not lemons and limes. I can find them around here, but the Manila area does get some variety in produce.

Hi machonurin, we are in So. Luzon, Naga City. Just outside Naga. Where are you? Oh aren't those Danlandan things horrible, sour like a sour orange. Not like a lemon or lime. We just got a big SM Mall here and they have a lot more things. But I still get all my pizza stuff from Manila. Hang in there, plant lemons and limes, I have kaffir limes here and use the leaves in cooking. Still waiting for the fruit.

Paranaque, NCR. I should talk to you about building supplies - can't seem to find Raffy around these parts anymore.

Yeah, the citrus can be tricky - was happy to find habaneros here once. Tried some Puerco Pibil. Best part? A few days later, one of the nannies asked about the peppers, and the other nanny told her to go ahead and use them.

Don't know tagalog for "Scoville scale," but that was the hottest afritada my house has ever seen Think she used more habanero than I did for 2 kg of pork butt.

Something I've been meaning to find around these parts? Curing salt. I have found a local company, just not contacting them until am ready to go. Bacon to western tastes is imported, and too expensive for the flavor. Found a few recipes and instructables, and mean to make my own.

That's a slippery slope though - I expect to want a smoker or build a curing box from an old fridge shortly after I manage to make bacon successfully

                        Cheers,
                        Matthew Z

Oh you right in Manila, You should be able to get almost anything if your willing to pay for it. The yellow pages can be very helpful there, if you can find one.
