    thanks !
Looks good, that should retain some of the heat.
I also thought about making a fire proof plug for the top of the chimney but you will lose heat from the bricks anyway.

hi george... thanks for your concern
the info i have picked up around here is great!!
i know of 2 other WFO that are similar in design (no insulation under hearth) they have cooked pizzas in around 6 mins or less... delicious!
one of them had a party feeding around 30 adults .. and he did not have any problems with heat loss and recommended burning good dry hardwood.

i will add insulation if it needs it at a later date.
    regards warren

How are you going to retain the heat in the oven as it will just go out the flue?

You could do a damper in the flue as I did, its just a piece kiln shelving that just slips into a slot in the brick flue.

    appreciate the advice...
will do something else with the chimney .... (was going to go ahead with cementing them there)
had the besser blocks just sitting loosely to get a visiual as to what it may look like ...
still have clay oven bricks left over... will build with them or get a clay pipe.
will concentrate on front arch for the moment...

Concrete bricks/blocks and heat dont mix, Ive clocked my flue gasses at 600 degrees c.
