Re: My 42" Pompeii Oven build, Northeast Ohio
016a - Oven floor layout.
At this point I took an 45 degree grinding attachment for the Dremel & put a slight chamfer at the edge of every brick.
This was a good tip I found from others in the forum, which keeps the pizza peel from catching.
I have no issues w/ peels catching.
It was much easier to do now, as opposed to when the floor is installed.

013 - Floor template
I have all of these files saved in softcopy/.PDF.
So if anyone needs a better copy of this file, or needs additional dimensions that I used, please e-mail me.

010 - Hearth complete & cured.
Ready to start the dome!
Notes:
My target for cooking surface (oven floor) was ~44.75".
This meant that the structural hearth top was ~40.25" from the ground.
On top of the structural hearth top is 2" of ceramic fiber board (FB Board) and 2.5" oven floor bricks.
The dimensions of the structural hearth top at this point were 64" wide by 80" long.
My only comment on this (for my design), is that the 64" width was a little tight by time I installed the walls.
The ceramic fiber blanket insulation was snug against the wall.
Although I'm not sure if it's worth making it wider, since that would require a non-whole number of foundation cinder blocks across the width.

006 - Hearth pouring.
I built this platform out of some scrap 2x4's to make pouring the mixed concrete easier.
I still had to lift the 80lb bags into the mixer, but pouring was much easier.

005 - Hearth framing.
Vertical rebar reinforcing cinder block walls.
Rebar (8" on center) reinforcing hearth, centered on hearth thickness.

Re: My 42" Pompeii Oven build, Northeast Ohio
001 - Foundation & oven base almost complete.
I didn't do a good job taking pics before this, but plenty during the rest of the build.
My foundation was made w/ 8" X 8" X 16" cinder blocks. The dimensions of the foundation are 64" across (4 full 16" blocks), 80" long (5 full 16" blocks). The height above grade was determined by the desired cooking surface height. I settled on ~44.75" above grade, as mentioned in my first post. The only minor issue w/ the 64" X 80" dimensions is that the FB blanket insulation is a tight fit against the studs of the side walls (64" dimension). I might try to go a 1/2 block next time to make it 70" wide by 80" deep, but I'm not sure the 1/2 block is worth the trouble of centering the door opening, etc...
Since I wanted the cooking floor ~44.75" above grade, I needed to subtract:
-2.5" for the fire brick floor,
-2" for the FB board insulation under the firebrick floor
-5" for the structural concrete hearth
This left the top of the cinder block foundation ~35.25" above grade. If you were off a little bit, you could always pour your structural concrete hearth a little thicker. So probably better to be a little below, than above your desired height.

You're correct, the one in the background is the neighbor's firepit.
I'll get the build pics up here soon.
Tks again!
