Re: My 42" Pompeii Oven build, Northeast Ohio
045 - Each dome brick was cut w/ an angle and a bevel.
This ensures an almost mortar-less joint on the inside of the dome.
I cut 1 full brick into 2 angled & beveled bricks by making 3 cuts.
See this post by mrchipster for more info:
http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f28/...ble-16780.html (Possible - New idea for brick cutting table)
I marked the bricks as 1up, 1down, 2up, 2down to keep track of each brick as I made the cuts.
To get a good understanding of how this works, read through each of these posts:

Re: My 42" Pompeii Oven build, Northeast Ohio
043 - Indispensable Tool rev2.
Finished product, this worked very well for the entire dome portion of the build.
The 3 wooded legs are attached to the base by hinges to allow for removal of the IT.
Each of the 3 legs has a threaded pad installed in the end to allow each leg to lock against the base of the dome to hold the IT in place and centered throughout the build.
The design for my indispensable tool was from the basic concepts in jcg31's post:

Threaded bolt locks into this plate from top side.
Cover plate prevents spinning arm from scratching firebrick.

039 - Final swivel base was created by welding 2 flat washer together to a threaded bolt.
This worked well by keeping the pivot point very low to the floor.

Re: My 42" Pompeii Oven build, Northeast Ohio
037 - Rev 1 swivel base was a caster w/ the wheel removed.
The caster pivot point ended up being too high.
This would have caused the top of the dome to be too high and and the dome slightly egg shaped.
Although it would have been unnoticeable, I wanted to come up w/ a better solution.

Re: My 42" Pompeii Oven build, Northeast Ohio
035 - Inner arch, 1st attempt results.
Poor mortar adhesion and not being careful removing arch form.
I made the mistake of making the form too tight of a fit.
For the 2nd (and final) attempt I cut the form an inch or so short and used shims that could easily be removed when the mortar cured.
