It looks great I reallly like the curves you put in. If you get some nice pea gravel for the firepit area, it will be good- not as nice as the pavers you wanted, but you can even walk barefoot on pea gravel.

Here's hoping the cats don't find the sandbox!

I do like pea gravel a lot. My parents built a play area for us when my brother and I were kids, and used pea gravel instead of sand. You can kind of see it in the background in this picture:

The pea gravel really is comfortable to walk on, absorbs energy from play and falls, and it was always fun to go on a fossil hunt. ;-) People here are so used to the ubiquitous sharp granite that it might still be hard to condition them that it's really ok to walk on it. I'm hoping that perhaps if I put some obvious stepping stones leading to the firepit, position a few chairs around it, it might get some attention.

Now we see where the inspiration for the little pink house in your backyard came from. Great thread and Great build. Beautiful layout. We went with pavers as well and couldn't be happier. Good enough for the Romans, good enough for me.

Announcing the completion of my latest project, the Baby Build:

Niamh (say NEEV, we went with the traditional Irish spelling) was born on Tuesday night, 6lb 15oz, eight days early. I'll be taking it easy for a few weeks, but hope to get back to finishing the stone veneer work before too long.

                Nice build! Congratulations!!

Hmm I know nine women and one month do not equal a baby, but do nine Nikki's and a month equal a WFO?

Awesome - she is absolutely beautiful! And her name can be associated with the oven "The meaning of the name Niamh is 'Radiance; brightness". And by her expression, looks like she is ready to gum some pizza

                    Congrats.
