On Monday here it was + 8 C, everything melting, almost saw the ground for the first time since November. Last night it started, now -6 with twenty centimeters of new snow on the ground, more expected before it stops this aft. Oh yeah, oh joy, another storm is headed our way for Friday. I hasten to add that this is not normal for Ontario, more like Rochester or Albany, NY, this time of year. I'd take a pic, but I can't get out the door. Helllppp!

We had a touch of that white stuff in Dallas Monday, brrr. Looks like you're taking care of the oven, something to pamper..

And this year... huge grass fires... Over 500,000 acres burnt so far.

Anyways here is the picture.

We have that problem here as well and the winds haven't helped. Fires aren't as bad as during the drought period in 2006. Hope that doesn't happen again.

Here's a picture of a bluebonnet I took last easter.
We were camping at Hord's Creek near Coleman, Texas.

This area may get snow every other year or so... And it is usually just a light dusting.

But this storm produced 3 or 4 inches. (A blinding blizzard in West Texas! )
If it would not have been a holiday weekend. The schools and many businesses would of shut down for a few days.

And this year... huge grass fires... Over 500,000 acres burnt so far.

Too frustrating. Something in Corel is messing up the file so that it won't upload. It crashes Explorer and causes a 5 minute recovery every time I try to upload it. I didn't even have a good pic of Frances to use. What's up with that Francie? Best I could find was a side view.

Yup! Good plan RC. Test it out, deal with the results. Don't forget, you'll get a bunch more smoke with the relatively cooler curing fires. Once that oven gets blazing hot, it will draw better and produce less smoke.

I dunno, maybe it has a really brilliant draw and I never noticed, what with this being the only oven I've ever built...

Ditto, I'm starting with one flue of 60cm (24") and see how things work. I have another one if needed, I'd add that when I do the stone work. I wouldn't want the winds to topple it, mortaring two sections together doesn't seem like a lot of area of mortar.

Yep, its a crocus. Harbringours of Spring. Every spring I think I should plant more of them in autumn, every november its too cold out and I have too many other things to do.

Lake, my chimney is 99 cm tall (excluding the vent, which is probably about 20 cm). Draw, well I don't know... the fires light easily, I'm pleased with the oven's performance, but I do get a deal of smoke out the front when lighting up, maybe because the outer arch is higher than the oven entrance. I don't want a higher chimney though, because the flue sections weigh a ton.

I dunno, maybe it has a really brilliant draw and I never noticed, what with this being the only oven I've ever built...

So you are back in the saddle again, another song for you as you start your springwork. By the way, how tall is your chimney and are you happy with its draw.
Lovely flower, I noticed one wildflower blooming this weekend. I post pictures of bluebonnets in a couple of months.

That looks suspiciously like a crocus. I have them as my "first sign of spring" alarm in my yard. They pop up for a nice spot of color for a few weeks and then disappear for another year.
