I was under the impression that blue was the theme but it looks like things are about to get a whole lot more colourful!
Those new colours are amazing - I especially like the blue & green tile in the middle - is that glass instead of ceramic?
Thanks for posting a pic of the cutters. They're quite different from what I've seen before.
I'm eager to see what comes next!

I knew it! Knew it, knew it, knew it!
      I've suspected it for months!
This whole oven project was a secret, convoluted, sophisticated plan to create another canvas for your mosaics.
You almost had me goin' with all that pizza and bread blah, blah, but I knew it!

Well..., brilliant plan. And, I gotta say, this one is shaping up to be your masterpiece. I find that whole art form facinating. I can't wait to see what you do with the other bright colors.
I'm thinking that if there was a WFO "hall of fame", yours would be in it.

Thanks for keeping us posted. You definatly got my attention.

More photos? I thought George was saying less? Sorry, but I can't oblige right now because of the rain

            Some more swirls...

A lot of these tiles are glass - because glass is frost proof. I've found frostproof tiles to be rather hard to find, and not very colourful when I do.

Oh as an aside, a good way to discover if any given shards are frostproof or not (say from a broken dinner plate or similar): Put the broken edge to your toungue (carefully...!). If it feels sticky its water absorbant and therefore not frost proof.

Some of the green here is from broken wine bottles. People keep asking to donate green bottles, but funnily enough thats one colour I have plenty of already...

If you're short of blue glass Frances, it's only ~25Eur per case, and it's great for getting stains out of the carpet too!

Frances, your swirls are absolutely amazing. Even my husband was impressed.

If a tile/shard/piece isn't frostproof, what happens? Does it flake off?

                  Frances,

The mosaic design is amazing. That is going to be really eye-catching! Can't wait to see more.

Wow, Francis! First time I've seen your oven, and it really is in a league of it's own. Very cool idea, using mosaic to decorate your oven.

Not mine though - I'm just copying RT's idea I was still a bit undecided about this whole project until I saw the pic of his oven...

Thank you for your comments everyone! Its nice to know my progress is being followed, wonderful motivation!

Elizabeth, non frost proof tiles can absorb water in the layer under the glaze and when that water freezes and expands in winter the colour does indeed flake off - as I learnt the hard way...

So here's todays efforts.... Its like one of those "spot the 10 differences between the pictures" things

I'm sure I'll find the need for a high tech temperature monitoring solution at some stage, but I fancied building a probe thermometer into the oven door in the mean time.

How long was Picasso's blue phase again? Mine lasted all weekend...

Filling in some of the gaps, working from the top down - mainly because I want to finish everything that needs me standing on the oven before putting any mosaic on the flat areas... which means I should really get going on the chimney. Only I'm not sure whats going to happen there yet....

I have to tell you that I really have no idea what this will look like when its finished.
