  • Floating Layer Above Dome

Any suggestions to add a floating layer above a final rendered dome? My dome is showing signs of cracking and I like to encapsulate it in a final outer layer that is weather resistant. I was thinking the layer between the final dome and outer dome has some flex in it so that the dome can do its flex without too much stress being placed on the weather resistant layer.

    Any thoughts?

Assuming you have used plenty of insulation and the outer dome does not get hot, then you could add a layer acrylic plaster or a fibre reinforced render or tiles or fiberglass.
I have fiberglassed a couple of ovens that were is exposed positions, completely water proof, wont crack and long lasting.
