  • Go Board vs Hardie Backer

I started closing in my enclosure, and I decided while buying it to go with GoBoard. But now as I'm installing it, I'm curious if it will be ok with heat exposure on the front of the oven? Anyone have experience with GoBoard? I'm going to put stone facade over it.

I'd never heard of this product, but some googling turned up this FAQ sheet, which lists the maximum surface exposure temperature as 250F: https://www.jm.com/content/dam/jm/gl...ard%20FAQs.pdf That does seem like asking for trouble in front of the oven. Maybe buy some cement board just for the front of the enclosure/around the oven mouth? Surely it's fine for the other walls if you've got enough insulation. My sense is we use cement board on enclosures more for the water resistance than the inflamability anyway, since with proper insulation the exterior of the dome shouldn't get much above ambient.

ID:	456055 Hardie Backer board in 1/4” is what I used on mine with no issues so far. Next time I would use the 1/2” instead.
