Had another go at cutting the bluestone today and will have more than enough to finish the base off tomorrow.

            Just a quick safety note.
I have a full face helmet that draws air in and blows it down your face after filtering it twice down to 2 micron.

Similar to this one (just an older version)

But after a few hours on a wet saw I could feel my nose getting crusty from the dust, a paper mask just wont do.

              The base is now done.
I have next Wednesday off so will pour the concrete slab then.

I can almost smell the pizzas.....

                Brickie,
Try slapping some product on the stand like Bondcrete or Silasec to prevent rising damp, before you cast the slab. You won't be able to do anything about it once that slab is down.

Im putting corrugated tin inside the top as there a few voids that cant be over come, I think the tin will stop any moisture.

You can see Ive left piers to support the corry, Ive used some old hard bags of cement that got wet as filler next to the old oven base.

Here is the look Im aiming for.
Ive tried to keep with the Fibonacci sequence or Golden Mean where possible, which is 63%.

Some rough set outs of the oven and opening.
Im thinking of putting insulated half fire bricks at the front for a thermal break.
The cavity will be ceramic blanket and loose vermiculite, and the whole oven covered in loose vermiculite.

Scratch next Wednesday for the pour, I had this arvo off so got .4 of a cube and done it today.
There are 2 rows of 7mm reo mesh in there too.

                          Re: Oven number two..

After the concrete had gone off a while I marked a few reference points into it.
Centre both ways and 350mm (1 1/2 bricks) in from the edges.

I have to aim for a slot already cut into the roofing from the last oven so need to be fairly accurate.

Moving along nicely, if the rest of your oven looks half as good as your stand it'll be something you can really be proud of.

I had this arvo off so I played and done some more to the oven.
Some of the calcium silicate is recycled from the old oven and is 40mm thick.
I added 50mm pavers in between the CS and the fire brick floor tiles for thermal mass.
