Can you use a Dewalt 12" miter chop saw with a diamond blade to cut brick?

Re: Chop saw to cut brick
I wouldn't. The dust will kill the motor. DeWalt is a good saw you want to keep for years. For cutting firebrick, buy a disposable "beater" saw that you don't mind breaking.Originally posted by roundmanone View PostCan you use a Dewalt 12" miter chop saw with a diamond blade to cut brick?
Look for my thread on the cheap harbor freight chop saw I bought. $50 (half price, but still worth it at $100) and it still runs. Uses consumable abrasive blades. Loud, dusty. Use ear, eye, and breathing protection. After you build the dome you can use it to cut steel studs for framing the enclosure. There is nothing quite so satisfying as drinking a cold beer, while tending a hot fire, in an oven that you built yourself, and making the best pizza that your friends have ever had.
