  • High Heat Mortar.

I'm having trouble locating Fire Clay in my area.
Is it the same stuff potters use?
I want to make my own mortar.

If you have firebricks, it is not difficult to harvest the brick dust that results from wet-cutting them. Over the course of building an oven you can collect more fireclay than you will need.

Clay pave in Brisbane would be a cheaper alternative. Don't use the Cement Australia's Bricklayers Clay (fireclay) it is not a refractory clay and is mislabeled IMO.You might be able to get some fireclay from a potter, they use it.
