Re: "De La Capra" oven build

Still crappy weather and waiting for more snow and ice this week. Here's a few pictures of a brisket we did on our Kamado Joe. Started with a chile paste rub and cooked for 12 hours. It was awesome!

Even the snowmen can't resist homemade pizzas in the wood fired oven

            Finished!!!.............almost.
Finally had some nice weather and we were able to get the stone veneer done and put the stone cap over the fireplace.
Next step is to sand and paint the insulated oven door and make some wooden handles for it as well.
Still need to work on the LV lighting.....
And still needs a good pressurewashing.

Lookin' good! Bet you're happy it's almost done. That's alot of work and you should be proud of it. Just think.....soon you'll be able to walk out there and nothing needs to be done! Great looking job.

                NCMan,
Already planning on building an outdoor kitchen covered by a gazebo in front of the oven. Still playing around with the layout, and not sure when I want to tackle that job.

I guess in reality, you're never done. Anyway, take some time to kick back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Fine job.

Re: "De La Capra" oven build

Took some time this weekend to clean up a little around the oven, leftover mortar mix, wooden forms, etc. Next step will be planning a garden to go behind the fireplace area.

Also got a chance to fire up the oven on Friday to make some pizzas! My favorite was the garlic, bacon, and blue cheese. Yum!

So WWJD this easter? Cook dinner in his wood fired oven! Might not have chosen a stuffed pork tenderloin, but you get the idea........

                              Hi cook4fun,
That may be the 2" thick rigid insulation foam that came with the FB kit. Below that, I had put a 2" deep mold into the concrete the same footprint as the WFO and filled it with a mixture of vermiculite and concrete to get more insulation.

                              Does that answer your question?
