      I heard this isn't sufficient alumina, density and temperature for an oven and these bricks should be avoided

        You heard wrong, especially for the floor, the lower conductivity prevents burning of the crust.

          So you believe the low duty firebrick is going to be just fine. Would hate to put in all this work just to find out it's not

            Conservatively, 95% of all ovens built using fire brick are built with low-duty firebrick. High duty firebrick are used in rolling kilns (cement plant) for example, while medium duty are used in commercial boilers and furnaces, etc.

            edit- This is the real criteria for high-medium-low firebrick:

            High: Highly abrasive and extreme heat.
            Medium: Ablative and abrasive applications at high heat.
            Low: Mildly abrasive at medium to high heat.
