Pad poured now blocks

I'm going to dry stack the blocks this weekend and set the rebar. Can I place the blocks on the edge of the pad or should I set them in an inch or two? My thought is it would be easier to finish with veneer if it was flush but any reason I shouldn't?

either is fine. If your veneer will cover the slab as well, then flush. If you want the slab to help support a heavy stone veneer, then i would recess the thickness of the chosen veneer.

Thanks for everyone's help! Will pour the oven floor tomorrow morning. I can either use 3500psi concrete or 5000psi concrete. Any input would be awesome!

our ovens are not nearly that heavy to warrant the high strength concrete. it is more expensive too.
i don't see any reason to go overboard, unless you going for extra thin slab and structural engineer prescribed 5000psi

To the OP, what type of foundation did you pour? I'm planning an outdoor kitchen with oven this summer. City of Lincoln said no permit required, but I'm trying to decide on 36" deep frost-free foundation vs. 12"x12" floating foundation.
