HELP! Hearth too thick. Looks funny. Ways to minimize?

Pizza oven master builders,

I have made my oven hearth too thick. Measuring in at 8" looks strange compared to stone support. Is there a pattern or ways to minimize the top?

My original plan was to put granite on top and sides. Adding 1.5" or 2".

I wonder if a combination of dark wood around sides and lighter top might make the large border look less noticeable.

What type finish will you be doing for the dome?

White stucco or travertine mossaic. Going to italian rustic look. I and keeping dome for shure. Not going to dog house it.

You can go with the wood look by applying a bonding agent and texturing the hearth to mimic wood or texture to match the stucco. You could also apply tile to the hearth to match the dome if you go that way.

Thank you for suggestions! Still deciding if going to wreck out and try again. Like your idea of matching dome with hearth. Hmm
