  • How big should the chimney opening be?

    Hello,
I'm at the very last stages of building my oven. It's a 36" oven, and I want the chimney to be made of bricks. I'm not sure how big the opening inside the oven should be. The vent opening in the arch is 27x12cm (about 5x11 inches). Is 12x12 cm (5x5 inches) square opening reasonable, or should it be bigger?

    Thank you!

Your flue should be a minimum of 6" diameter, if round, so 5x5" square will be a bit small. 5.5x5.5 will be fine. (140x140mm)

Having read your post again, a comment: There's, of course, no opening inside the oven at all. The only opening is the opening in the arch, to which your flue connects.

Sorry, I meant to write opening in the arch, not in the oven. Thank you for your answer.
