How much SS needles for 3:1:1:1 mix? How to spread out in mix?

Hi everyone. I am planning on using the homebrew 3:1:1:1 mix. I have finally tracked down all of my materials! I am just wondering, say, if I use 3 shovels of sand, 1 shovel of cement, 1 shovel of lime and one of fireclay how many needles I should put into this per mixture? I have the recommended 10 kilos of needles for the size of dome I am making, but am unsure of how much I should disperse them throughout each round of mixing! Do you eyeball it until it seems like they are well distributed in the mixture?

2-4% of dry weight of mixture.

SS Needles go in the DOME (if your casting it yourself) not in the mortar mix that holds the bricks together.

What David Said. When I added them to my bagged mix I figured the percentage PER bag (aprox I didn't go crazy with precise grams) since your using a home brew its best to add them to each measured batch.
