    does the vermiculite have to be mixed with concrete or can it be loose under the brick floor.Lay down the out line and fill with vermiculite add floor.

    No, loose vermiculite won't work, it's fluffy, and will push right out of the way, or compress to uslessness if you tried. The portland makes it into a rigid layer under your oven floor which can't move or sag at the risk of cracking or worse.

    If you don't want to mess with the vermiculite concrete, use a refractory insulation board.

      so is this right 6 shoval fulls of vermiculite to 1 shoval full of portland cement then mix with water.and troll out.
