  • Steel reinforcement in vermicrete

Hi, I'm pouring my concrete deck tomorrow(I hope) on which will sit my vermicrete slab. Ive 2 questions around this.
    1. Does my vermicrete need to be tied into the slab its sitting on with steel? Im guessing the answer is no but would like some confirmation of this?
I'm doing a 100mm concrete deck which is tied into the 4 retaining walls that the whole oven sits on. The vermicrete slab(125mm) will sit directly on this. However, the vermicrete slab will be enclosed on 4 sides by blockwork, so I dont have to shutter in the edges before pouring.(hope my explanation makes sense?)

    2. Does vermicrete need to be reinforced with steel/mesh?

    Thanks

    Richard

No wire or rebar needed, or recommended.
