Okay, so here's a dumb question: I am installing a Casa2G100 oven and it calls for a stand 54" x 61". Using 8x8x16 or 8x8x8 inch blocks, how do I achieve those dimensions? Thanks!
If the joints get really wide, you can easily cut CMUs -- using a masonry blade on either a skill saw or grinder. It's noisy and dusty, but it isn't difficult.

You could make it 56 X 64 and have a slightly larger stand ( actually less than that because the blocks measure about 3/8" less than stated measurements) by dry stacking them and filling the cores.
