I was in a dilema trying to decide what to do about the front arch , any way just started laying bricks and came up with this. i left a 8mm gap between the front arch and the vent arch. Just gotta cure it now so i can insulate!
        cheers

          Hi Doug
That hole was 215mm my stainless flue is 200mm , in that photo I had a piece of 250 galvanized outer flue which will be above the roof line to make the tin weatherproof and the stainless flue will run inside that to a hat .
Im gonna render over two layers of blanket and blend into the back of the front arch.
Drilling that hole was cheating really as i run a Concrete Cutting & Drilling business. Ive got diamond drills from 16mm up to 600mm diametre. Ive cut thousands of metres of windows and doorways in brick walls in the last 18 years but the cuts on the oven were something i dont wanna do again in a hurry.
          Cheers

                Hi Doug
The flue will only be out of the shroud for the 1st 600mm for asthetic reasons I would wan't to be looking at a grungy galvanized pipe when I paid for stainless. I Reckon it will still be pretty hot coming straight out of the oven, not much in the way of wind under my patio its pretty enclosed. I just hope all the smoke draws up the flue and not out the door.
                cheers James

If the wind blows with a down draft it will blow smoke out the front no matter how ingenious you are, it happens with my oven.

                    Hi Al
My flue will rise 1.2m above the roof height what do you think about installing a metal whirly bird on top of the flue to create a constant draw ?

                    cheers James

It would inhibit the flow of smoke.

The other chimney bird would work better.

Its given me an idea fora self made in stainless version to allow for maximum smoke removal especially when theres no wind

3rd curing fire down got up to 130-150c no cracks ........yet.
Ive been keeping them at the temps for a good 2 hrs before i let it die out outside of the bricks got to 30c. Flue draws excellent bit of smoke out the door when theres big gust of wind nothing to complain about.
