    I thought the outside was painted with high temp already..you definitely should coat the inside of that chase.

    Not only the soot, but the temperature fluctuations are going to create condensation, the heat will negate the galvanized finish in a relatively short time.

          Using stainless would have been very expensive for this application, but i would have loved to use SS, sure. Prayer always helps

            Yes, the outside is painted with high temp paint. Thanks for the info, i will also coat the inside.

              Yup, and combustible. Ask me how i know. My profession involves construction and inspections for a restoration company. I am very familiar with that. Ill just have to clean the flue every few years, or if i have to ill shell out another $140 and have another one made.
